Anyone looking for a personal gift usually starts with a person, not a product category. That's why this page is sorted by recipient: for each one, you'll find what people usually choose, in which price range, and what's best avoided.
One pattern runs through almost all orders: the gift carries another person within it. The children's names, the date of a particular day, the birth month as a colour, the coordinates of a place. That is also the answer to the hardest case there is: someone who doesn't want anything material. You can't go out and buy the names of your own grandchildren.
For Mum
The most common request of all. It almost always centres on the children: their names on small discs or their birthstones as colours. With several children, you choose one element per child, and if another one comes along later, it can be added.
For a godchild
Godparents face a question of their own: the gift should be a step above what friends bring, without stealing the parents' thunder. The usual range is 50 to 150 euros. More important than the amount is agreeing on the motif with the parents beforehand, because the guardian angel is chosen so often that two can easily turn up.

For Grandma and Grandad
As with Mum, just one generation on: the grandchildren's names or birthstones. The big advantage is that it can be added to. If another grandchild comes along, you add a stone, even years later.
For your partner
What hits the mark best here is something that points to a shared moment rather than to a feeling in general. A date, a place, an evening. Understated to the outside world, unmistakable to the person receiving it.
For your best friend
Sets of two identical pieces work better here than a single gift. You both wear the same symbol, and no one else can decipher it. If you'd rather give a single piece, choose something delicate with an engraving on the back.
For children
Robust and adjustable beats pretty. The sailing rope and satin bracelets keep up with school, sport and the playground, and their length can be adjusted. Exactly how far is stated in the description of each piece, because the range isn't the same for all of them. For children who don't like jewellery, there's the lanyard for their school bag.
For him
Choosing is said to be difficult, but it isn't. It's just that anything that sparkles is ruled out. What's left: simple, matt, robust, with the engraving on the back rather than the front.

What almost never works
- Something that will only fit in ten years' time. Especially common with children. On the big day itself, the child then gets nothing out of it. So with bracelets, it's worth checking the stated length.
- The same thing as someone else. At christenings, two guardian angels regularly turn up. A quick word in advance prevents this.
- Jewellery that's too grown-up for children. Heavy necklaces look out of place on a nine-year-old and don't get worn.
- A piece in the wrong metal colour. Someone who always wears silver rarely puts on a single gold-coloured piece. Take a look at what she already wears.
The card
Almost every gift needs a line to go with it, and for many people that is the real hurdle. We print your message on a card free of charge and enclose it. Our customers most often write lines such as “We're always here for you”, “Stay just the way you are” or “Only the best for you”.
Plan your spaceThe text is entered in the cart, in three fields: Greeting, Message, Signature. Together, around 150 characters fit on the card, spaces included. That leaves about 100 characters for the message itself.
Delivery time
We do the engraving ourselves and need 3 working days for it, plus delivery. In the run-up to Christmas and Mother's Day, and during the christening season between May and September, experience shows it takes longer. For these dates, allow two to three weeks.
Frequently asked questions
What do you give someone who doesn't want anything?
Something that carries another person within it: the children's names, a date, the grandchildren's birthstones. That's not something you can go out and buy, which is why it works where material gifts fall flat.
How much do you spend on a personal gift?
The usual range is between 30 and 50 euros. Godparents and grandparents go higher for a christening or confirmation, usually between 50 and 150 euros. For small gestures, 12 to 30 euros is enough.
How do I know which birthstone to choose?
The stone is based on the birth month of the person you have in mind, not that of the wearer. So for a gift for Mum, it's the children's months. You choose the month in the product options.
Which bracelet size should I choose?
The knotted bracelets made of sailing rope, satin and nylon don't come in different sizes; they have an adjustable range. Depending on the design, it is between 12 and 24 centimetres and is stated in every product description. Some individual pieces have a choice of sizes instead: S for children and M for adults.
Gold or silver?
Take your cue from what she already wears. Warm birthstones such as garnet, citrine and ruby look more striking in gold, while cool ones such as aquamarine and sapphire show up better in silver.
Can I add something later?
Yes. If a child or grandchild comes along, an additional birthstone or another engraved disc can be added, even years after purchase. Send us a short email to arrange it.
Is a card included?
We print your message on a card free of charge and enclose it with the gift. For designs whose title ends in “card”, a matching illustrated card is also included.
How long does it take to make?
3 working days for the engraving, plus delivery time. In the run-up to Christmas and Mother's Day, and during the christening season, it's best to allow two to three weeks.
