Materials & care
What your jewellery is made of, what it can handle and what keeps it looking beautiful for a long time.
We work with a small number of carefully selected materials: 925 sterling silver, stainless steel, hand-knotted bands made of sailing rope and knotted cord, and – where something special is called for – natural stones, pearls and mother-of-pearl. Our packaging is made of paper and cardboard, and the jewellery pouches are made to be reused.
What we make is meant to last.
Can I wear it in the water?
The most common question, answered briefly. If a piece is made of several materials, the rule for the most delicate part applies.
- Stainless steel
- Yes to showering, sport and swimming. Salt water, chlorinated water and the sauna are no problem either; the piece does not need to be taken off.
- Sailing rope
- Yes to showering, sport and swimming. Rinse after chlorinated or salt water and leave to air-dry.
- Knotted cord
- Yes to showering, sport and swimming. Rinse after chlorinated or salt water and leave to air-dry.
- 925 sterling silver
- Yes to hand-washing and showering. Better to take it off for the swimming pool and the sea; please take it off before the sauna.
- Satin ribbon
- A splash is fine, then let it air-dry. Please take it off for swimming and bathing.
- Cubic zirconia birthstones
- Cold splashes are fine. Please take it off before showering, swimming, bathing and the sauna, and avoid hot water.
- Natural stones & crystals
- Only wipe it with a dry cloth. Please take it off before showering, swimming and bathing.
- Pearls & mother-of-pearl
- Please take it off before showering, swimming and bathing. Put it on last and take it off first.
- Mouth-blown glass
- Only wipe it with a dry cloth. Take it off before showering, swimming and sport, and protect it from knocks.
- Genuine leather
- Only wipe it with a dry cloth. Please take it off before showering, swimming and bathing.

925 sterling silver
Care effort: medium
For lasting beauty, our 925 sterling silver is carefully finished: gold-coloured pieces receive a particularly thick plating of genuine 18 carat gold, and silver-coloured versions a high-quality white rhodium plating. The extra-thick coating makes the surface especially durable, colourfast and resistant to abrasion – for jewellery that keeps its beautiful shine for an especially long time.
Your silver takes hand washing, rain and your morning shower in its stride. Dry it gently afterwards.
Stainless steel
Care effort: low
Stainless steel jewellery is very robust, rust-free and kind to the skin. It almost never tarnishes and does not discolour your skin. All the materials we work with meet the EU requirements for jewellery – including the limit values for nickel release, lead and cadmium.
You can keep your piece on while washing your hands, showering, doing sport, swimming and in the sauna. After chlorinated or salt water, give it a quick rinse with clean water and dry it gently.
Sailing rope
Care effort: low
Our sailing rope is knotted by hand: tear-resistant, lightweight and smoothly adjustable in size using the knots. The stainless steel part on the band is engraved – a bead, a disc or a charm, depending on the model.
The band is waterproof and can be worn while showering, swimming and doing sport. After chlorinated or salt water, give it a quick rinse with clean water and let it air-dry – not on the radiator and not in the tumble dryer.
Knotted cord
Care effort: low
Our nylon knotted cord is fine, particularly tear-resistant and lightweight. Knotted by hand, it becomes a slim band that can be smoothly adjusted in size using the knots. The stainless steel part on the band is engraved – a bead, a disc or a charm, depending on the model.
The band is waterproof and can be worn while showering, swimming and doing sport. After chlorinated or salt water, give it a quick rinse with clean water and let it air-dry – not on the radiator and not in the tumble dryer.
Satin ribbon
Care effort: medium
Our satin ribbons are made from tear-resistant, colourfast thread – with a soft sheen and pleasantly light on the skin. The knots let you adjust the size smoothly.
A splash of water will not harm the ribbon – just let it air-dry afterwards. Best to take it off for swimming and bathing: chlorine and long soaking can take their toll on its silky sheen over time.
Genuine leather

Our leather bracelets are made from genuine nappa leather – soft, supple and more beautiful with time: leather develops its very own character as you wear it.
Cubic zirconia birthstones
Care effort: medium
Our birthstones are made of brilliant-cut cubic zirconia and are available in twelve colours – one for each birth month. Their clear shades and delicate sparkle give every piece a personal touch.
As far as possible, keep perfume, hairspray, cream and sunscreen from getting directly on the piece. A soft, dry cloth is all you need for cleaning. Please do not use an ultrasonic cleaner.
Even on waterproof bands, these care instructions apply to pieces with a birthstone.
Natural stones & crystals

No two natural stones are alike. Formed in nature over many years, each stone carries its very own colour, texture and markings.
We carefully select genuine natural stones and crystals for our jewellery. Their natural nuances, fine inclusions and individual shapes make every piece a small one-off – created by nature and finished by our handiwork.
Slight differences in colour, transparency, texture or shape are part of the stone’s natural character and make every piece unique.

Mouth-blown glass
Care effort: a little more
The real flowers in our flower collection are encased in mouth-blown glass – each sphere is made individually, and no two are alike. The glass protects the flower and preserves it forever.
Pearls & mother-of-pearl

We use cultured pearls from freshwater mussels, which we select with the greatest care for our jewellery.
Mother-of-pearl is the shimmering inner layer of shells. It is made of the same material as a pearl and needs the same care.
They don’t like perfume, hairspray, cream, chlorinated water or salt water. After wearing, a soft, slightly damp cloth is all they need. Pearls need air: don’t store them in plastic bags or airtight containers.

All the materials we work with meet the EU requirements for jewellery, including the limit values for nickel release, lead and cadmium. What that means for you depends on the material.
925 sterling silver
Sterling silver is 92.5 per cent silver. Our silver pieces are also rhodium-plated or gold-plated.
Stainless steel
Our stainless steel contains nickel as part of the alloy, but releases only a very small amount of it onto the skin, below the EU limit value. Most people with sensitive skin wear it without problems. If you have a medically diagnosed nickel allergy, however, we cannot completely rule out a reaction.
Cords, stones and pearls
Sailing rope, knotted cord, satin ribbon, natural stones, pearls and glass contain no metal. With cord and stone jewellery, only the engraved part is made of metal.
- Let cream, perfume and sunscreen soak in first, then put on your jewellery.
- If you have a known nickel allergy, it is best to choose cord or stone jewellery, where only a small metal part comes into contact with your skin.
- If your skin turns red, take the piece off and write to us. We will get back to you personally.
Care in four steps
Cream, perfume, hairspray and sunscreen first, jewellery after. That spares your pieces most of the trouble.
Especially after chlorine and sea water: clean water, a few seconds.
A cotton or microfibre cloth. No hairdryer, no radiator, and always let bands air-dry.
Ideally in the pouch your jewellery arrived in. Stored separately, the pieces won’t scratch one another.
Statutory warranty
All our jewellery is covered by the statutory warranty of at least two years from delivery – including personalised pieces and jewellery with real flowers, leather or pearls. If your piece has a defect, send us a photo and your order number; you do not need an invoice. You can choose whether we repair it or send you a replacement; we cover the costs.
