Frequently asked questions about christenings
What jewellery makes a good christening gift?
The most popular choices are a fine bracelet or a delicate necklace with a guardian angel pendant, often combined with the child's birthstone. Both can be engraved with the name and christening date, turning them into a keepsake that can still be worn later on.
What do you engrave on a christening gift?
The usual choice is the child's name on the front and the christening date on the back. Depending on the style, you can choose engraving on one side or on both, and with many pieces you can also go without engraving altogether. Instead of a date, initials or a small symbol are also possible.
What does the guardian angel stand for?
For us, the guardian angel symbolises protection, hope and closeness. It is the most frequently chosen motif for christenings, births and the first years of life, and works as a quiet sign without the piece coming across as overly religious.
What is a birthstone and how do I choose the right one?
Each birth month is assigned a colour. Our birthstones are cubic zirconia in twelve colours, one for each month. You simply select the child's birth month; the matching colour is already assigned.
What size fits a baby or toddler?
Bracelets with a choice of sizes come in S for children and M for adults. The exact measurements in centimetres are shown directly in the selection on the product page, as they vary slightly from style to style. Styles with an adjustable band or rope fit everyone from children to adults without choosing a size. To measure, place a tape measure loosely around the wrist and add about one centimetre.
Is a card included?
All styles whose title ends in ‘with card’ include a matching greeting card. You choose the card design directly on the product page. The piece is delivered in a jewellery box.
Is the jewellery suitable for babies and children?
We work with stainless steel and with 925 sterling silver. Stainless steel is rust-free and skin-friendly; it practically doesn't tarnish and doesn't discolour the skin. Each product page states which material the piece is made of. As with any jewellery for young children: don't let them wear it unsupervised, and take it off for sleeping.
Can I also order a christening gift without engraving?
Yes. For many styles, the engraving selection includes an option without engraving. The piece then arrives blank, and everything else stays the same.
Necklace or bracelet for a christening?
For babies and toddlers, a bracelet is chosen more often because it can be worn straight away. A necklace is often given as a piece for later and kept safe until then. We offer both with the same motifs, so you can also combine them.
How long does production take?
We make personalised pieces ourselves. Production takes 2–3 working days; within Germany, your order, including production, is usually with you after 5–7 working days.
Can the piece still be worn later on?
Many of our bracelets are freely adjustable, so they grow with the child. Necklaces can usually be adjusted to 40, 45 or 50 centimetres, so they fit from school age through to adulthood.
Can I have a piece of jewellery engraved at a later date?
Yes, that's possible – for example, an engraving on the back. To do this, you send the piece back to us. Please drop us a quick email beforehand so that we can agree on the process with you and tell you where to send it.
